Learning things

OK---so on my last blog post I stated that I liked blogging more than facebook......well, I have learned a few things since then. Just a few. My sweet niece sent me a note on facebook on then "inbox" . Well, I know what things like the "in-crowd" and being "in-the-groover" mean but the inbox I learned is just between us chickens. Hey, that's good because I felt like facebook was just too open for me sometimes.

OK-I'm good with that. Now, if I can just figure out how all those "friends" other friends stuff comes up to me when I am not their friend! Who's on first.......I have no idea.

What a wacky world in which we live but life is good. I am not stressing just because I am not in the "cyberspace" groove. I am ok with just being me. Never mind I don't know all those terms and I still don't know how to post a photo on my blog.
Hey, I am learning.

Give me time.

While I am learing I am just lovin reading about Travis, Bethie, Dianne and Karen and all the interesting things going on in their lives.

Ain't life grand!

I am turning myself in early tonight for some good , peaceful shut eye. Need to catch up with about 3 extra hours tonight.

nite nite

Well, long time no post! Tomorrow, tomorrow , I love ya, tomorrow, you're only a day away! First time in about 2 months I have had a real day off! So looking forward to it. Going to check on Dad and spend time with my hubby! Dad has (like many of us) put on a little weight since confined to a wheellchair and needed a sport coat. We found one at Belk for him and are taking it to him tomorrow. He will be pleased, I am sure.

Hopefully tomorrow the sun will also shine.......the yellow one in the sky!
Glad the real Son shines on me everyday!

Facebook is interesting and seemingly a very popular fad right now especially for the younger set but to me, just a little too open.
I like the blog as it creates a little tighter knit atmosphere!

Oh well, to each his own. That's why we have choices!

The trip

WOW. That's all I can say. WOW. Such a majestic and awesome city......From start to finish it was magical. New York is such a large, vast, "crowded" city, especially this time of year. But there was an air of excitement and good will among everyone we met. I can honestly say, I don't think I saw or encounted a gruff person while we were there.

Saw everything on my list that was highlighted as a "must see" and then some.
The Broadway shows "Lion King" and "Mary Poppins" were truly magnificent. The Rockettes were, well what can I say. 30 beautiful, shapely women all together dancing, singing and entertaining!

I would have to say the highlight of the trip was going to church Sunday at the Brooklyn Tabernacle. Truly amazing. Noon service, completely packed. The choir of 285 count sang 3 songs after praise and worship and another during the offering. Pastor Cymbala brought a compelling message on how God can "unmess our messes".
Terry came away saying, "I think that is what heaven is going to be like". It was truly a worship experience. Everyone was very friendly but when worship began, it was just us and the Lord.
We will definitely go back and especially back to the Brooklyn Tab.

My Christmas present was well spent, well enjoyed and I loved it.

7 days and counting. Big Apple here we come! The only thing I am dreading is the cold. I don't like cold weather. I don't like hot either but medium is good. This morning weather.com said 31 is the high but feels like 27! brrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!! But.....10 day says might be in the 40ish range and hopefully it will be!
layers will be the dress of the day I suppose.
Looking forward to all the lights of Christmas! Hopefully we can splash a little Jesus on some of those folks and remind them the true meaning of Christmas!

As I begin to think about the "trip of a lifetime" my man and I will be taking in 29 days.....whew! Much to do and so little time to do it. Mainly, the issue here is clothes. Isn't that always the issue with us , ladies?
What do I take, what do I leave. Seems to me, bluejeans will get the nod. After all, comfort is the key here and who am I trying to impress.......who am I going to see in New York that I know anyway. Katie Couric? Yeah, right. I might!
Excitement is building in this household as we map our daily destinations, restaurants, broadway shows and so on.
But.....the most interesting and wonderful thing yet is that I have been in contact with the Brooklyn Tabernacle website just making sure the choir would be in town on the Sunday we are there. Guess what! drum rolll++++++********excitement , excitement........... are you ready for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not ONLY is the choir going to sing in the 9 am and 12 noon service, Tony Evans is speaking in the 3 pm service! WOW. That is all I can say. Am I excited? You bet!

Praise Him!

OOOOPPPPSSSS! I have run out of time.
More later! Have a great day!

Open windows=closed windows

Cool breezes, gentle whispers!
Don't you just love this weather! Crisp morning air, sweatshirt weather in the A M and just plain awesome in the evening. We love raising our windows this time of year. Also helps in the power bill to turn off the air conditioning for a short time!

What I love is in the evening the crickets sing their songs together and sometimes quite loud! I wonder if those are their "Praise songs".........then in the early morning before my clock goes off the birds begin to sing their songs of praise......."it's morning, get up!" "The day is dawning" "get up!" I love it. I think we may be missing the best part of nature by closing our windows! I think windows are kind of like hearts......open ones get the blessings and the "songs" of praises . CLosed ones do not get the "priviledge" of hearing and sharing those songs!

Open windows bring gentle breezes to our lives and bodies. Clean , fresh air (for the most part) that our bodies need and our homes enjoy!

It will make me sad when I have to close my windows and click that little button on the thermostat that says "h e a t"........... Seasons! Fall could last a little longer and it would be OK with me. If anyone ask, I vote for fall- a long fall!!!!!

Life is short-live it daily!No....live it minute by minute!!!!!!!!!!
Our lives can change so very , very quickly. During the past month we have seen a vibrant 45 year old go home to be with his Father, a 25 year old young lady suffer a horrible stroke and our professional lives have been turned topsy turvy by the news that one of our own work family has cancer. Life is tough! During my quiet times this week I have been reading so much about random acts of kindness....showing concern for others and just the little things that mean so much during a time of stress.
I think sometimes we have it all wrong. We seem to "live to work" much of our lives. We need to "live to serve" more I guess. At least that is what I am feeling right now.

Fellow bloggers, if I can help any of you -I want to know.
Listen to your body......take care of it.
Life is short. Live it!

Enjoy the crisp fall day we have been given TODAY!
